What Navicular Pain Is All About

By Minnie Whitley

Once you see that your horse is not walking properly, then there is a great possibility that there is something wrong with its heel area. As its owner, it your responsibility to get to know the different bones in this portion of your animal. Thus, get acquainted with what they call as the navicular bone.

First, the bone actually does not take so much space in the heel of the animal. However, its damage can be very fatal for the overall condition of your buddy. Thus, you should be able to detect whether navicular pain is already present in the body of your pet or not. Ask for further assistance if you have to.

If your horse has already been in this condition before, then you would know how to go on about it. However, if this is your first time to see your pet in such pain, then you would have to distinguish the things which have caused it to be in that kind of situation. Be able to conduct your own research as much as possible. Get a hold of all the online and offline sources that you would be able to find.

You will have to know all of its possible symptoms. This includes even a single sign of lameness. As you can see, the effects of the navicular bone is not really determined by its size. It can be highly dangerous if you are not able to get it back to its normal condition as soon as possible.

So, let a medical professional check on the nearby ligaments too. Whether you like it or not, these items are connected to the featured bone. Thus, if they are not healthy to begin with, then the bone is the one that is going to suffer the greatest consequences. To prevent this from happening, then allow an x ray machine to provide you with an early diagnosis.

If the navicular bone has caused its other buddies to stray away from their original position, then a realignment procedure called the shoeing treatment is needed to be done. It is a requirement to get the heels in tip top shape again. Failure to avail of this process might lead your pet to be a limp for the rest of its life.

On the other hand, if the veterinarian would provide you with a prescription of drugs, then you should be able to purchase all of those things immediately. Keep in mind that one of your horses is in great pain. Thus, you must be able to act on your feet so that the lower part of the ponies would not be damaged that greatly.

However, if things already got worse for your pets, then a medical surgery would have to take place. This process would cause you a lot of money. Nevertheless, it would be worth it for as long as you are able to hand in the cash right away.

Overall, the fact remains that one horse is different from the other. Thus, you must let your pet undergo a thorough check up. By doing so, you can be assured that it would be fine again at the end of the day.
